The full form of AHD Camera is Analog High Definition Camera. It is very easy to install & service. It needs a Coaxial wire for video transmission. AHD technology can transmit video signals up to 500 meters.
  • High image quality at the resolution of 720p/1080p/3MP/4MP/5MP/8MP
  • Long-distance signal transmission up to 500 meters
  • Very easy to install & service
  • Reliable and inexpensive connection
  • Video data can be transmitted long distance without quality losses
  • No signal latency, Real-time live video.
  • Universal application
  • AHD DVRs can work with 5 types of camera available in the market. So if you have already installed cameras, you can connect your old and new camera together. It can save lots of money.

AHD Camera: AHD camera is a better option for small areas like home, office, schools, stores, etc. It is very easy to install and repair, a normal electrician can also install and maintain it easily.

IP Camera: IP Camera is a better option for big areas like Hotels, Factories, Colleges, Government offices, etc. It is not as easy as AHD to install and maintain. A professional technician needed to install it. Cat6 wire is required to install IP cameras.

CCTV is the abbreviation for Closed Circuit Television. It is a visual surveillance technology system designed to monitor the desired surrounding environment and its activities. In recent years, the role of CCTV has grown to unprecedented levels. Originally used to deter crime and 'anti-social behavior' such as minor offenses like littering, urinating in public and etc, CCTV now plays a more important role, assisting the police and security organizations in their investigations.

CCTV acts as deterrence rather than prevention to crime. CCTV deters 'opportunistic' crime, where people take advantage of a situation on the spur of the moment.

The cameras are also creating a vastly increased rate of conviction after crimes are detected. Virtually everyone caught committing an offense on camera pleads guilty nowadays. Once people know they have been videotaped, they admit the offense immediately.

  • NTSC stands for National Television Standards Committee. It is the color video signal television standard: 525 lines, 60Hz
  • PAL stands for Phase Alternate Line. It is the color video signal television standard: 625 lines, 50Hz

Day and night cameras are cameras that are able to provide video surveillance even at low levels of illumination. A day and night camera displays a full-color image during the daytime but produces monochrome (Black and white) video images at times when the lighting is poor. The camera has a device that is sensitive to the surrounding light conditions and switches the camera between color and black & white modes automatically. It is designed to increase its light sensitivity in poor lighting conditions and at the same time reduce the noise level in the images. However, the day and night camera will fail if the illumination (Lux) level is too low.

IR is the abbreviation for Infrared. IR cameras have image sensors that are designed to sense and process infrared light emitted from IR LEDs. Similar to Day & Night cameras, IR cameras turned to monochrome mode when illumination falls below a certain Lux. An IR camera differs from a Day & Night camera in which an IR camera is able to capture video images in absolute darkness with the help of infrared light source.

IP65 ratings have the following protective qualities:

  • Completely dust-tight (no ingress of dust, objects, or airborne debris permitted)
  • Protected against splashing, falling, or dripping water
  • Protected against hose-directed water, from any direction, using a nozzle of 6.33 mm or smaller at relatively low pressures
  • IP65 enclosures offer solid and reliable protection, and they’re used for many different indoor and outdoor applications.

IP66 ratings have the following protective qualities:

  • Completely dust-tight (no ingress of dust, objects, or airborne debris permitted)
  • Protects against splashing, falling, or dripping water
  • Protects against hose-directed water, from any direction, using a nozzle of 12.5 mm or smaller at higher pressures
  • IP66 is the highest level of waterproof protection for an IP rated enclosure except for enclosures designed to survive total submersion

Frames per second (fps) relates to how many pictures the DVR can record in a second. Real-time recording is about 30 fps. To calculate the fps per camera, take the total fps that the system could offer and divide it by the number of video inputs. For example, a 100 fps DVR with 4 video inputs would give u 100/4, 25fps per camera.

IP based cameras are the future. They work by turning images and audio into data then transmitting this data over a network or Internet connection. The ultimate benefit of this over analog CCTV systems is greater flexibility, better performance, and easier installation. IP Camera is a better option for big areas like factories, colleges, etc.

The IP images would then be streamed to NVR (Network Video Recorder). Either of the above storage technologies can be accessed via a LAN (local area network) for local viewing and playback or WAN.
